Mr. Woodruff meant that when you do the wrong you will NEVER gain anything in return other than maybe regret and remorse for your actions. It is as simple as; you do the right and you will gain tremendous opportunities in life, you do the wrong and nothing good will come to you whatsoever. An example of this statement and its truth is when you lie to someone, a sense of tranquility will never come upon you, as you will always be worried about being caught in your lie.
