Allopathic
Physician (M.D.)
Duties and
responsibilities: Allopathic physicians are carefully trained to
diagnose and treat illnesses. They prescribe medicine, perform surgery, and practice
in specialty areas. They also work alongside osteopathic doctors and they have
similar functions but not identical.
Salary: $500,000-$600,000
a year.
Education:
It takes four years to obtain a degree in allopathic medicine. After they
graduate their residency begins and takes 3-7 years depending on the field they
have chosen.
Reflection:
I might want to be an allopathic physician because they don’t just specialize
in one area of the medical field. I believe that they won’t get bored in one
area so they can experiment. They also have a wider range as to what they might
want to do.
