Columbus day is celebrated on the second monday of October. Christopher Columbus was an important explorer in the 1400s. He became most famous in 1492 for arriving in the Americas. Columbus is often thought of as the discoverer of the New World. There is evidence that the real "discoverers" of the Americas were truly vikings from Scandanavia. On October 12,1942 he was said to have found America.
