Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is an extremely important day that comes every fourth Thursday of November. Thanksgiving is a holiday where families get together to give thanks for everything they have. It originated with the Mayflower, a small ship that sailed from England containing 102 passengers. Its destination, The New World.  When the ship got to America the pilgrims, which were those passengers began establishing a new village. Some Native Americans, the first true Americans taught them how to cultivate corn, avoid poisonous plants and even how to extract sap from maple trees. In November of 1621 during their first successful cultivation the pilgrims invited the Native Americans to a feast. Thanksgiving went on to becoming a holiday on November 1623. Every fourth of November we gather to thank for what we have as well as what we do not.
