Student Success Statement

A Choice: Poverty or Prosperity
“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a change than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.”- Ben Carson

What Ben Carson means is that even if you are not blessed with an economically wealthy family and all the luxury’s that come with it, it is your choice to make whether you want that same life style or if you want to change it for the better. Hard work and determination can and will lead you to a much more adequate life. An extremely powerful example is Mr. Carson himself who was able to overcome his poor background to become a very important doctor.
