What this quote means is that every day we should strive to make our time as absolutely wonderful as we possibly can. We need to always make an effort to make our day a masterpiece, as in one of the most amazing days of our lives with no regrets at all. Over time as we become accustomed to always doing our best, we are able to continue that good behavior and t becomes much easier to do your best for the rest of your life.

This quote means so much more than what it seems, it can be used not just in basketball but anything else. One of the many things this may mean is that being a good person and recurring to team work always helps achieve goals when you are out on the field as well as life in general. It also means to me that just being great at something like a sport just is not good enough. Being the greater person in general is far more important than anything.
