Memorial
Day
Memorial Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States on
the last Monday of the month of May. The holiday is a day to commemorate the courageous
men and women who died while serving the country and our people in the
military. Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in the year 1997. In remembrance
of the lives lost, we celebrate by visiting memorials or participating in
family gatherings as well as by participating in parades. Normally, people will
organize barbecues, as Memorial Day, unofficially marks the beginning of summer
for many people. During Memorial Day, in order to show respect, I will be
attending a family gathering.
